frigid evening
stray cat comes to warm up
being extra cute

frigid evening
stray cat comes to warm up
being extra cute

first daffodil

early February
already one golden trumpet
glows

bereft of flowers -
now shooting forth
a long green spear!

Ash Wednesday on SpanishTown Road

Jewelled skeletons dance

Swaying

cool February morning

The scent of rum and redemption

Warming

Warming ground
first weeds of the season
popping in the lawn

again
leaves opening
out from the mystery

why do they do that?

in the graveyards
the carrion crows
pull the pansies from their beds

feeding time at the park

several sheep
at the manger
surround the goat

the black goat
with his forward feet
in the trough

Lent Begins

yesterday's treasures
today's useless trinkets
Mardi Gras throws

concrete pillow
sleeping teenager
at the park

last year's palms
burned to ashes
mortality reminder

warm winter morning-
pansies dancing in the breeze

Looking through the old school windows (on sunny days in winter)

the birches
swaying
and brightly glowing

Winter?

sleeveless linen shirt
on my back
sticking

cold bathroom floor
toes feel
refreshed

Cracking

Early commute
wiping the excess dew
from the windshield

Comfort Food...

after long hard week
making chicken and biscuits
just for me

warm spell —
we scramble to find
our bike helmets

our bamboo thicketis now my son's space —
I may not enter

robins and coaltits
await the thaw

Blue Heron

He Stares, Eye Burning

Like Odin on his throne

Back straight, stiff neck

Fishing,

on cold glass.

bare limbs
twisted with age
a sparrow's roost

wonderful!
snowdrops
I can't remember planting

snow-covered hills
disappear
into the sky

are they really
different from each other,
snowflakes,
landing on a newspaper,
life and death on one page
.
from Tangled in Wisteria

Frigid Air

Bad morning in plant
blameshifting in high gear at
managers' meeting

Warm day in the park ...

two fat pigs
examine the fence
round their pen

Enjoying the chill

Chilly evening-
nestled up with bowl of soup
and a great read

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

along the waterside
snowdrops -
snow falls

Fading...

Morning Ginko-
Seeing the edges of winter
creeping inward

Uncurling

not so frigid morning
wild mint lets it leaves down
at first light

Monday, January 28, 2008

sunlight shining
through winter clouds
illumines the way

colors flying
beads
New Orleans Mardi Gras

urban renewal

sprouting
from the snowbank --
a stop new

Morning Research

mid morning break-
looking at this year's roses
and wishing for spring

MIRACLE

Snowflakes stick
stars on the window panes
winter's miracle

fallen leaves
overtaking
the running man

Shimmer

early morning
frozen water glistening
in side walk cracks

FOG

Wrapped in fog
the flying plane
seen by sound

--R.K.SINGH

The Edge of Spring

newly in the stores-
garden seeds and starters
for a new year

foggy crystal ball
foretells sleet
addled prognosticator

Blustery night in the Vienna Woods

slowly waving
under the starry sky
the conifers

suddenly -
the snapped crack
before the short silence

and long
and slow
the rent of wooden flesh

daylight reveals
the fallen comrades
on the battlefield

Chill in the Air

morning meeting-
plant manager grilling folks
for the right answers
